Today is the last day of the term and we got Duffy books! The books I got were Iceberg by Jennifer A. Nielsen and The other shadow by Tainia Ingram. The books that I got were very interesting indeed, Im really grateful for my books that the government gave me! And I now feel addicted to reading because of these books! I choose my books because they looked very interesting and scary just for my liking.

In Room 1 we have been doing loads of math! So I’m going to tell you what we have learnt and mastered. We have been learning about north, east, south, and lastly west. We have nearly mastered what ways north, south, east, or west are facing. Here’s a cool trick as well, if you can’t remember where north, south, east, west is I know a solution just think about Never Eat Soggy Weetbix! quite interesting right? Well let me explain what it stands for. The N stands for north, and the E stands for east, then S stands for south, and last but not least W stands West. Its easy to remember once you get the hang of it! And lastly we have been learning about angles! Angles are very interesting indeed, like perpendicular is a angle at 90 degrees and parallel is two lines that never meet! That’s all that i can remember about math !

In Room 1 we made Matariki masks for the Thursday Matariki celebration! I chose Tupuanuku, Tupuanuku represents food from earth and to me that sounds pretty cool! Before me made them we made a sketch of the star we chose, then we made them by getting a blank mask, and painted them whatever colour the stars skin color was. After our mask had fully dried we added some details like eyelashes, mokus, eyebrows, lips, feathers, and if you wanted some glitter! Lastly we made hair out of yarn and wool. I chose green and brown yarn for my masks hair. After we had finished our mask we would make a background out of thick paper and decorated to make it match the theme of our mask. I felt quite surprised and relieved because my mask turned out better than I expected!
Have you ever made Matariki art in your class?
Today is Thursday, and as a school we celebrated an early celebration for Matariki. In the morning we did our Room 1 usual prayers . During prayer time some of the parents came to have a look at our art. In Room 1 we made masks representing one of the stars in the Matariki star cluster. After prayers we got…. Hot chocolates, brownies, and rice crispy treats covered in chocolate! Oh also I forgot to say we also watched kapa haka, which in my opinion was really interesting! We got to switch around classrooms for activities like drawing stars, and Matariki jump jam and we sung a song called the Matariki Macarena . After the bell rang 2 times, it was about time for morning tea. After eating, playing, and chatting we made blog posts about our day ( which i’m doing right now! ) Thanks for reading my post
Today in room 1 we made something cool with 2D shapes and polygons! We could do the activity either by your self or with a buddy! I wanted to be in a buddy so I buddied up with Tegan. She was amazing at the activity, heres our picture!

Last Friday and this Monday the year sixes had cycle safety🚲! In my opinion it was extremely fun but nerve wracking at the same. I borrowed a bike and a helmet because my big bike could not fit in my Mums car! The cycle safety bikes were really cool I really enjoyed biking and learning on their bikes! We did some fun and exciting activities like a shrinking box where the court shrinks and you can’t put your foot down ! We also played the slow race its exactly the same as a normal race but its the last one to cross the finish line! Sounds easy right? It’s definitely not as easy as it seems!
When it was time to go on the road and I got put in a group with Tegan, Louie, Koby, Elisa, Lee, and of course me! We learnt all about how to be safe on the road and left and right arm signals it was really cool!

Today for R.E we made a video of Jesus getting crucified and that how Mary was extremely sad! I was in a group with Elise and Leila! They were excellent at our video!

This week at school for writing everyone made a character and shared it with the person sitting next you. I shared my work with Reymz and she shared hers with me! I made a story for Reymz and her character was about a 11 year old girl called Angel she could teleport ! And my Character was a Australian Millionaire girl called Lola!

For the last 2 weeks we had swimming lessons.We had swimming lessons at QEII. We all were in different groups. I was in a group with Saffron, Isabel, Sophia, Elisa, Koby, Cassie, and Zoey, it was pretty fun being in a group with some of my friends. We learnt how to do freestyle, backstroke, streamlining, skulling and much more. My instructors names were Sam and Jess they were amazing! My instructors helped with everything and they explained mostly everything. On the last week of swimming on Wednesday we got to go in to the deep pool and buddied up with someone. I buddied up with Saffron and everyone had to put life jackets on. After that someone in that pair had to jump in the water I went first of course and Saffron filled this bag up with some water that was attached to a rope she threw the bag in so i could grab it and she pulled me in. and on Thursday we learnt how to make a huddle and also went on to this inflatable boat and fell backwards off it when we fell we made a huddle with the people that were already down there. After that we made a huddle we all got into line to go under the boat it was a lot of fun and on Friday we swam in our pajamas its felt really really heavy. We swam through a current that all the instructors made its quite hard to be honest.
